The spark for SOWEDOSE actually ignited a couple of years prior to the exhibition. It was one of those late nights, just me and my digital sketches. Printing, adding layers with markers, scanning, repeating the process. I was delving deep into image editing software, trying to uncover the perfect shadow layer. Then, by sheer accident, one of my prints emerged oversaturated, transforming the black ink into enchanting shades of purple. It was captivating! I had to replicate it intentionally.
Those initial sketches were humble, just on A4 photo paper with ink and markers. Excitedly, I shared my new concept with friends and family, anticipating their applause. However, instead of support, I was met with doubts and discouragement. So, I stowed the project away for about a year, until the opportunity for my first exhibition presented itself.
In that moment, I knew precisely what I needed for larger-scale pieces. Despite my family's lukewarm reception, I persevered. Months later, I had a collection of sizable canvases, fusing digital and physical mediums into a captivating chaos named SOWEDOSE.
To my astonishment, the response surpassed all my expectations. Each piece was sold within 45 minutes of the exhibition opening. It taught me to trust my instincts and stand by my creations. If I hadn't summoned the courage to share those sketches and assert their worth, I might never have become an established artist.
Reflecting back, it appears to be a quintessential tale of the misunderstood artist, yet it's my reality, and I wear it with pride.
